Well, since Darling's a family name (and not a common one) I'm gonna have to start asking lineage.

There's a Babs (Barbara) Darling living in Kerrisdale. She's fairly old. Any relation that you know of?

It's my mother's maiden. It's kinda cool... I have 2 middle names.... I have a few people in HS that didn't wanna call me Dave because it was too... normal? And they didn't wanna call me Leckie because I had a pretty harsh resentment of the people who called me by my last name at work.... So they'd ask me my middle name and I'd feed them Darling......

So I had a nickname amongst a select few (basically, those who were quite comfortable calling it to my face) of "Darling".

It's faded, as usually people these days are just trying to remember my first name anyways... my close friends tend to just call me Dave or Dave Leckie... these days I don't have as much animosity towards my last name anymore either, so calling me Leckie isn't so frowned upon.

And that's my story of the name Darling.
