Yes I was dismayed to see some UNION logos splashed all over some flyers after I had picked my name, done the paperwork and built the site. No matter. There's room in this town for unions.

We're just starting up. By the time we're ready to roll, maybe the other Union will have moved on, or better yet, perhaps there's an excuse for some Uber Union collaborations.

Thumbs down for biting an established company name! You're either very ignorant, or incredibly stupid (maybe both?) if you think anyone from the real Union productions would ever want to work with you. First off you have flat out disrespected them by stealing their production company name. Secondly, the real Union productions throws actual events that happen in real night clubs, not in their mom and dads basement or in their friends bedroom. I could go on all night here, but there is no point in kicking a dead horse.

I'll end this by saying that I would recommend that you change your 'so called' company name to something else, especially if you ever plan on DJ'ing or throwing events in Vancouver.

i think we're all smart enough to figure out the difference, thanks. i mean, i can see your point, but did you have to jump right in and bite the head off the guy? what's the chance of working out something with him after that?

nah, I don't think this falls into that gray area at all.

On the one hand UNION has taken two years to fully establish itself as a quality and voiced company in Vancouver's music scene.

On the other you have some young guys who's hopes are to start the same but under that same name? Yeah right. I think the ball is in they're the court to rethink they're plan of attack and change while there is a chance. Before they go and upset real Vancouver promoters.

Theres definetly something to be said about doing research into ideas for naming a specifc production or promotion company, before posting it up on one of the cities larger related websites.

With saying this, and taking into consideration that you yourself are in a position of conducting yourself in a professional manner, it might be more appropriate to structure your replies in keeping with this "professionalism."

Your intent could have been far more effectively communicated by a pm/email or providing the contact information to said newb so they could discuss it further.

"Union" isnt a completely new company name in this city either, and has been used for several club nights, and a pub to name a few. Nonetheless having two production companies named Union(in the same city) does peg me as lame, but isnt said newbs name called Union Progressive?

I could be completely wrong, and this whole matter could have meant to be far more disrespectful then it seems to me, but in keeping with trying to unify, and keep a good business relationship and landscape locally, i think its important to keep it civil, until matters dictate otherwise.

I don't frequent fnk much but someone braught this thread to my attention and it's flat out disrespecting my friends. Bottom line is that these guys should have done their home work to avoid a situation like this.
