WOOT! - January 9th - Marty Mcfly (toronto)
Marty Mcfly - not his real name, obviously, adopted his stage name because "...it was short, catchy and easy to remember." His persona is unforgettable, too. If you find yourself in his presence, you will instantly spot his energetic, up-for-it approach. The music that he mixes to entertain you, then, is likewise of the hyped-up, peak-of-the-night variety that is a total mood lifter. Originally from Toronto, Marty resided in Vancouver as club culture swept in at the conclusion of the 80's. He became an ardent raver, and in 1992 played his first gig as a DJ. McFly then played at many of Vancouver's major parties (including Dose), learning more and more intricate lessons of his craft by watching the likes of Donald Glaude and West Coast favorite, Czech. After trying several genres of music, Marty finally settled on breaks as the style he liked the best. He has found, however, that his previous dabbling has served him well, as each genre of electronic music has its particular means of mixing, Marty was able to add technique upon technique to his DJing repertoire. Upon his return to Toronto, Marty played at a ton of E! Parties, and eventually became a fixture at the slamming Hullabaloo events. He is currently a resident for OffWorld (Buffalo, NY), and his out-of-town schedule continues at a frenzied pace. Catch Marty's parties in Toronto - they're real dope.
