7 Alexander St ( Woot!)


Unfortunately, due to all the bad weather and low turnouts with the exception of MartyMcFly, Halloween, Christmas and good breakbeat/funky house night turnouts, we have decided to end our weekly event at 7Alexander. We haven't decided whether we are going to pull out completely or if we're going to organize a monthly event at the club. This is a hard time of year to survive. The weather lately has been hideous. There are now 3 other nights operating on Wednesdays and that really breaks up the audience. I'd rather see 1 club night do well that see 4 do ok.

The main reason why we started the night in the first place was to fill in for the absence of Pound. We didn't want to see the city lose another club night so we stepped in and gave it a shot. No one knew exactly how long it would last and many people didn't expect it to run as long as it did. I'm happy we were able to have a few key nights and I was certainly impressed with all the people who showed up and the enthusiasm I saw from all the dj's that wanted to play there. 7 Alexander provided dj's with a place to play in between the major dry spells (bookings). It's a shame we started in the winter season. I'm sure if it was summer we wouldn't have as hard a time filling up the place.


As for the scene, teamhardcore now seems bare and many dj's I've spoken to are out of work. I'd still like to work with all the dj's to create something in the near future.

For now, I want to thank every single person who came down to 7 as well as all the dj's who played for free. I really don't have an answer whether this is actually the end or not so I won't say goodbye for good. I've got a lot of thinking/planning to do so I'll let you know my thoughts as they solidify.

guess I wasn't too far off when I suggested the possibility of doing 1 show per month.

I would also like to personally thank all the DJs that I've met over the period of Woot! Wednesdays who have helped run the night and keep the music bumpin'

And thanks to all those who came out, either training it from a ways away, or driving through harsh weather to come show support. But mostly, to those who came on a regular basis :D:

I'm sad to see it come to an abrupt end, but I'm also positive that it's not completely over. I hope that plans will be made, and hopefully by the summer, we will see an awakening :Kimmie:

I am very sorry to hear this Lex!! You guys threw some wicked nights and it is hard to keep it going with 4 other nights going on. I know I enjoyed myself whenever I came out. Unfortunately we did trek down last night, and to our surprise, the doors were locked. That's really too bad to hear...however I know you, and you are one smart man, and will think up something soon. You will have my 100% support too!

Needless to say I'm upset to hear this, I really enjoyed this night, both as a DJ and patron.

I'd like to personally thank Lex and Cece for letting me spin there. Getting actual club experience was something that benefitted me greatly, and through this night I met a lot of great people.

I definitely feel as though I owe you guys something for giving me a chance to prove myself at your night. I will gladly play for free for you guys at any event you promote in the future.

Thanks, and best wishes with your future endeavours. As you stated, the competition on Wednesday is pretty high right now, and dismal weather has made matters even worse. Keep me posted on what you're up to in the future =)

Thanks for everything Lex, yeah this recession is really killing the entertainment industry. Only the patrons can change that, and if they aren't ready to anti up the dough then we all suffer. But better luck next time, and you know i'll be there to help in any way in the future. Thanks for bringing marty, he had a good time here.

lex...cec...kev...adam...and everyone else that was there supporting our local talent...my hat goes off to ya...its been a pleasure to be so involved in that sega of F&K...and im sure the next chapter is right around the bend!...maybe this is a minor setback for now...but everything is a learning experience...and we all definitly learned alot from promoting your oun clubnight...and the next time an opportunity presents itself...we will have that knoledge and experience to make it even better! again...sooooo sad to see this come to close for now...but my memories will last a lifetime...thanks to all!
