My Travels through SE Asia & India

I've been keeping a blog of my adventure on the other side of the world. Have a read if you'd like. Some are more interesting than others. The 8 hours of hell one on the 2nd page is kind of nuts

Feel free to comment, and say hi!

I read and was told this a million times, however I could never really identify the official "government bus". I remember meeting in large covered shacks and someone would put a bright coloured sticker on your bag to prove where you were going and paid for. We always hoped on from dogy bus/van to another dodgy bus/van that was often over filling and having ppl hanging off the edge and than only dropping us off as certin hotels that they were obviously paid comition for... Not to mention there was never a distictive logo or colour code for any of the buses/trains/ferrys I went on... except for the sticker!?!

The Government buses only leave from bus stations, and are not over-filled. Plus no rowdy falang in the back keeping everyone awake with their stupid ignorant antics.
I miss Thai.

^ So was I or wasnt I on a government bus? Becuase a lot of the time if you where far from the main bus station you where taking vans/trucks... but all organized with the same company or are they separet? i mean a lot of places i went traveling didnt have huge charter busses taking us places. And by station do you mean really nicely built places or in some cases where they run down?

Either way I made it around ok and nothing was too scary or insane :p

Tourist travel. They put the stickers on people, just like cattle, and herd them around so they can get around the language barrier. the Gov. bus stations were mostly just old bus stations, similar to one you would find in the west. Good by Thai standards of course. The main difference is you get a ticket in a paper folder with your seat number specified on it.
The scary insane/part is what makes it so appealing huh? : )

^^haha yeah nobody puts stickers on me. Usually I go to a travel agent and act real intested how to get somewhere. For example Samui to Krabi today. i asked what tiem the ferry leaves, and where it leaves from. I asked what tiem there shuttle would pick me up. And a few more questions
then I'd just do it all myself for about half the price, and am free of the hassles. The only place that is hard to escape all that is Vietnam. They're truely good at what they do!

In Thailand I've learned that

1) Stay away from the ladyboys. Pics in my blog entry. My poor Mom is going to hav a heart attack!

2) The buckets that have bottled alcohal such as Smirroff vodka or whiskey is all fake. All the seals are broken, and the real stuff is replaced with cheap rice whiskey. This is why so many people are puking and sick at full moon parties!

Well we're off to India tonight so our blogs will be a bit more interesting than beautiful beaches in Thailand.

We're off to Calcutta tonight. Tonight.....at night! I'm kind of nervous. We met some guy off http://www.couchsurfing.com we're supposed to just call him when we get there!

Every large city seems to have it's tourist district, similar to Khao San Road with restaraunts, guesthouses and money exchange, etc. Well this one is Calcutta's.......yikes!! wtf is that. For once I'm kind of nervous!
