Robb Peppertree and Hard As FUCK 2 in Montreal
Sorry for the 2 threads in a row, but this was a huge weekend up dans le belle province.
Hard as Fuck 2 featured Vancouver's own Robb Peppertree along with Lenny Dee and Slammer Virus as the headliners. This was a fairly out of the way sort of party, but the venue was pretty sweet - fish tank and all - and the theme event always attracts a pretty interesting group of people. Robb played first out of the three headliners and dropped - and Im not even kissing his here - the best set of the night by a long shot. His NRG and H A R D mixing made for the most energtic throwing down on the dancefloor the whole night. Dont let him tell you otherwise guys, he spun a killer set, and its beyond me how he isnt getting more exposure than what he is. Slammer Virus is a cross genre sorta group combing the hard house aspect and the metal guitar, its a crazy concept and it sounds really out there, I was impressed, but the set was way too short to get into it. Lenny Dee, well the first half of his almost 2 hours set was banging, booty bass for the most part but after a while it got strange. He played around with the beats a lot and it just didnt quite sound right. On the whole though this was a good event, fairly intimate, hot and dirty, just like a good underground rave should be. |

I'm very thankful the system was so loud to cover up for me.
I cannot even begin to describe how pissed off I was by the end of my set. I'm NEVER playing before or after a Live PA again. http://www.rave.ca/data/photos/004465/023126.jpg http://www.rave.ca/data/photos/004465/023127.jpg |

Irregardless dude, when youve got the monitor right there you notice shit wayy more than out in the crowd, good learning experience for you though, and besides which NO ONE noticed anything wrong, so says a lot about your ability to think on the fly. Im still giving you a 10/10 for your performance kidd.

Evertything that went wrong with my set is as follows:
1. I could barley hear my headphones and has a hard time cueing. 2. I'm not used to cold weather anymore. I forgot that my records were going to fog up and become wet like that. It was hard to grip them. Apperently some people saw steam coming off some of my records. 3. I've never used those CD decks before. 4. When Slammer Virus was setting up. they were in my way. and setting stuff up on the table where the decks were. 5. Too many people on the stage making the records skip. 6. I was cut to a 45 min set because Charles Monroe is a weasle. 7. I didn't get paid... TO HEADLINE! All this, is why I walked off the stage and left the venue after mixing into my last track. That and I really needed to breathe where people wern't smoking. This gig was a nightmeare for me. I'm shocked by the possative response I got. I was not impressed at all. |

Atta boy keep truckin',
Dont be negative with it man, Im a LITTLE surprised you didnt get paid...want me to take 'im out for ya? hahaha Im moving anyhow, I dont mind leaving a trail of carnage in the name of Peppertree...and yea I did notice your set was short, and considering Lenny Dee....thats a shame it was a short set. At least youre gunna pimp out the next few parties youre booked for, if you played as well as you did under that kind of duress, then youre next job will be easy ass. Although if you ditch on me again (twice now :p) Im gunna throw pennies at you when you spin!!! ;) |

There is a major crack down. I have my copy of the Ottawa Rave By-Law at home somewhere still.
There is a way to comply with it and leagly throw a party. The company I'm booked with works in compliance with the bylaw. However, Ottawa parties end at 3AM now. |

ya, but they've learned to not complain.
Once in a while (when they look hard enough for a venue). They throw one outside the region (since Ottawa is all merged, you have to go out side the county for the law to not apply). But then you have to have shuttle buses. |
