i need ideas
i want to leave for part of may and june.
i dont know where to go though. right now it is a toss-up between the coast of brazil to learn to surf, or a Cambodia/Thailand/Malaysia/Vietnam kinda trip. where would you go? from my choices, but also your own. keep in mind my budget is about $3000, and i want warm, hammock kinda weather. let me know thanks. also....anyone want to get away for a month n a half? -Mike |

If you have 3000 bucks and still need to pay the flight, I think you shouldnt go to Europe. The money would last you a week... Thailand would be a good idea. Great sea, great places and I think it´s even cheaper now after the tsunami
I don´t know much about brazil, but I think it is pretty cheap as well. I would recommend thailand though, it´s beautiful!! |

That kinda cash would maybe last a few weeks as long as your not going nuts every night. There are some amazing parties over here that's a must if your into some wicked tunes.
Amsterdam has the likes of Dance Valley, Sensation and Mysterlands. All 3 are massive events which have to be seen. Kuffdam |

Hrrrm well I think going to brazil to learn how to surf would be a bit of a waste. Surfing is fun and im sure there are some great teachers over there but if youre only planning to stay for a while it wouldnt be worth it. I spent everyday for almost 2 months learning to surf and felt alot more satisfied with boogie boarding.
Thailand would be a great place to go. Its a place where you can experience so much. Party, culture, and sightseeing all for really really cheap. Its so easy to get around there or if you felt like seeing ankor or vietnam etc you just hop on a bus/plane for 50-200 dollars. high season is basically ending unless the tsunami ended it anyway and the weather should be fair. I would wait till nov/dec and do india with me! or that Train from central asia to Russia The mongolian expresss? good luck man! |

ya, i have been to Thailand. it was a great trip, so that is what is leaning me towards SE Asia again.
i have decided to go back. i agree with you Matt, i would be wasting time in Brazil learning to surf when i could be seeing much more. im going to go Malaysia, Thailand, then up to Cambodia to see Angkor. i have wanted to go this trip since i returned in 2003, so now is as good a time as any. oh, and as far as flights are concerned, my mom works for the airlines so it is virtually pennies in comparison to full fare. and yes i am bragging. haah! |

With such short time and a small budget Im sorry to say I doubt thialand/cambodia/veitnam would be a good idea espeicaly with such a high airfair (however your mom can get you a deal) However I found when I was there I was much to intreted int eh culture to ever bother with surfing.
You Just mist the huge carnavil in Rio Brazil too wich is one of the biggest reasons I would go there. If you want cheep airfair and a cheep place to stay with hamocks and surfing I think your best bet would be Central America (mexico/costa rica etc) Just do some reserch on the better spots to surf.
