Going to Shanghai & Thailand

I'm leaving for Shanghai (just for 3 nights) and Thailand for a month on monday..

Anyone been there who has any suggestions for which islands/places are worth checking out?.. I don't have much of an itinerary yet, just flying into bangkok for a few nights and heading down south.

And any travel tips would be great also!

koh phangan is a where the full moon beach party is gonna be... on Haad Rin beach.... Ill be there on oct 13th... going to the beach party on the 18th... if your still gonna be there at that time then let me know.. find a way to meet up

While you're in thailand go to Pattaya (2hrs south of bangkok) and check out Jomtien beach, its pretty nice. Also if ur interested in good music go to Marine club or Lucifers.

chiang mai in neato, but not southern.

if you make it up here, send me an email and ill show you cats about. other then that, i recommend koh lanta to do nothing, and koh samui to do everything. both have their ups and downs though. if you want beaching it at its best, keep going south into malaysia and go to the perhentian islands. they blow thai beaches out of the water.

go to ko phi phi, still half destroyed but a wicked island ( go to hippies bar), skip phuket, samui is good for a proper club night (as good as you'll get on the islands) but overcrowed, koh tao is the cheapest place to get your open water certificate (9000 bhat) phangan is wicked full moon party is slightly over rated try out a half moon party or go out the 2 nights before th efull moon as its same same but more chilled out. mushroom shakes are a must on the moutain bar at haad rin beach
water is 5bhat at 711
its low season so barter to your hearts content walk away if they dont move on the price (they will chase you) and never buy from the first place you see something.
mind your bags on busses (even the stuff they put under) as they have picks for locks( bastards) and sleeping gas i swear.
mangrove forests in krabi are cool
eat spicey foods or your stomach wont be happy
byo toilet paper or go asian style wit your left hand
valuim is 10bhat at the chemist they only sell it when nobody is in the store, zanax is better anyway a pack of 10 should be 200bhat.
and when buying drugs at the full moon by from white people. and say no to all asian that ask. (cops)
didnt do chang mai area (raining) but i hear pai is a must see =(
but come to cambodia, extreme poverty in your face, more $$ then thailand but ankor wat is wicked (even better on acid ;). buses from bangkok 350 bhat.
