any top40/alternative dj able to have a set up for less than $700?
title says it all..
my grad spring thing is using "hot wax"....lil set up with limited lights and sound system..costing us $700 bones.. i think thats a lil overpriced cuz from my experiences i can throw a full out gym dance for like $1000 and this grad thing is pretty tiny in a country club. a lil help? throw a price at me and ill present it to my committee.

PA system from $300, all the CD DJ decks and lighting included.
Any one DJ top40, I do have some, I do weddings but I'm not too sure about a high school group

we're not the big hiphop gangsta group... we're more the alternative led zeplin group. but the odd christina and britney works... just no sandstorm..cuz once that goes on a circle forms around me...
 dave..just confirm a price range and if you have a suitable dj.. and we'll talk. im not worried about the songs cuz i can easily gather up a song list and the week before you can d/l and burn away.

OK I have april 25th open. Music with a little help is no problem.
$300(with food if it's being served) for sound, lights, and DJing works for me. morningglory.cjb.net I would like to work with some students (one or two) to help them learn the top40 DJing, and if any one wants to learn some basic sound set up then I'm cool with that also.

My bosses Husbaned use to do weddings, highschool dances ect. He inspiered me ;) But yeah hes got ALL the basic equipmet needed pretty much. And im pretty sure hill do it pretty cheep with lights, sound and equipment, and his talent!
Pm me if your intrested, and ill give yeah his didgets. Theres also "Vibe", I got them to do our grade mardi gras witch was very cute and basic. There very friendly to work with I found (back then) and are perfect for small to huge school dances ect. They have a series of pakage deals to choose from as well. Hopefully even a good deal ;) I dont have there number or email at the moment... but again if your intrested I could dig it up for yeah :)

i presented ure company to the person in charge and they haven't paid hotwax yet so there still can be a chance that we will need you. i told them the price will be "around" 300... because it sounds a lil cheap.. ummm i will get back to you. the girl told me they want a more classic dance.. as in alternative classics.. =) and a large selection of music would be ideal (thats pretty much what they're looking for)

I have a lot of techno re-mixes of old hip-hop tracks :) it's always good for bit.
Bebu (is it Bev?) are you good with english skills? --- I have done sound for over 250 shows, from 1000w, to 12,000w. Sound for Rock, HipHop, Folk, Weddings, Privet Parties, Raves, Multi Day Music Festivals, Goth/Industrial. And Currently do 3 sound bookings a week end. And I have need running for 4 years now. Personalty I have ran an all ages Techno Dance night, with a peek of 200 people in a night. I've done one off nights with international DJ's like Madam Zoo from the UK. Also have done a show of live electronic artist at the Planetarium, and the proposal for the September 2003 show has been excepted for our second one. My efforts have kept alive Vancouver's only all ages Goth/Industrial night dude to the Transit Strike and then subsequently the closer of their venue. I'm involved in many community and art shows through out the year supporting local talent, and promoting exiting new music artist. These event often are priced free to $15, because the groups I work with strongly believe art is for every one. Even with this price tag the events are making a profit for all artist in there many media's. This is rather unique and unheard of in the industry especially with 20 contributors working at some events. This week end a lone I'm doing sound for a Rock Show, Goth/Industrial Event, and Rave with 2 rooms of sound, lights, and visuals. I have summer bookings for multi stage, and multi day events. Also in conjunction with a few other groups we will be doing our own music festival up past Whistler BC, with a Rock, HipHop, Techno, and Breaks stage. -- Last edited by Crazy Dave; Apr 03, 03 at 12:10 AM.

you just made me sound a fob.. but yes i understand that quite clearly and i know your really good with sound system/set ups etc.. ive probably been to a few of these events myself. the thing ihave to point out is that the group u might be playing for is ANTI-ELECTRONIC MUSIC.. so sandstorm would already be pushing it. maybe some ol skool hiphop and newer rnb (typical ashanti) stuff....but mainly alternative stuff ranging from oldies to stuff you hear on fox and crap. its a grad thing thats opened and its semi formal at a country club...so be expecting 15 year olds-20 year olds.
ill keep you updated and see if they're interested. =) thanks for the wonderful offer.

OH yea, I got classic pop down right... I asked for help "Filo" cause I'm about year and 1/2 out of date. It's not an issue for Weddings but it's death when it comes to teen big on top40.

If a compressor is set to 2.5:1 ratio at -10db threshold and the signal is 10db. How much out put signal gain should I have? Or what if you have a speaker at 98db per 1w with 200w, how many do you need to match a 104db per 1w speaker at 400w?

ACKZ..im so sorry but you were chosen.. then they called hotwax to cancel and hotwax actually lowered their price and did some talking and pleding.. so they're gonna stick with hotwax. im soooo sorry, but ill keep you in my books for any future events.
you dont know how much i wanted you guys to do the spring formal for us... it would be cool to have someone to joke around with etc. but for sure ill let others know that your interested in throwing a highschool event.. ill get ya a gig or 2. i promise...lotsa ppl ask me! =)
