I've got to disagree with you there pegasus.
all that time you spent mastering whatever it was you were doing to get by with shitty decks, could've been spent on mastering technics.
it really comes down to what mango wants to do with turntables.
if she wants to JUST mix then she might be able to get by on shitty tables. However, anything to do with turntablism will probably be out of the question.

and about the shitty decks, lemme put it this way.
if i put in front of you, two belt driven turntables, there is a high probability you won't put together a good mix.
whereas, i've used shitty decks for over a year, and i know how to deal with them and am good at using them.
also during that time and still on many occasions, i use techs. i know how to use em. its NOT that hard. --start. stop. 33. 45.
honestly, i hate techs. in my opinion, they are way over-rated, they've used the same technology and same design for over 20 years.

but thats completely besides the point. she just wants to have some decks to play around on for right now.

i know how to play on crap decks....its a hastle though.

like pegasus said, if you do get belt drives, make sure you get some really slick slipmats otherwise you're going to ruin the motor

as for making it easier to beatmatch once you get better tables.. i dont know about that.... i mean when i got my decks i was able to beatmatch perfectly after a week of practice

you also have to take into consideration that cheaper model decks dont have as accurate a pitch as techs... not only that but the wow/flutter value might be a lot higher

if you're thinking of getting some cheap stanton takes checkout the messageboard at www.stantonmagnetics.com ... i guarantee you that ALL the members of that board will say that stanton decks are sketchy.. and its the frickin stanton website!

If u want a cheap ass setup Tom Lee has a really cheap ass setup for like 300 or 400 bucks, check the one out of granville

For that price yes they will suck incredible ass but meh it is only 300
