fuckers have been sold out everywhere for the last couple months for some reason...
I've been *everywhere* (all the record shops in town as well as the music shops like Long & McQuade and Tom Lee) and I can't find the stylus replacements anywhere - I'm in desperate need of a new stylus for one of my needles too... |

yes but i'm biased against stantons ever since i wasted my money on those useless DJ Craze models. For the price, Shure M44-7s are the best needles you can get hands down. Great sound quality, the best tracking out of any needle and the least amount of record wear for any needle. They seem to pick up a bit more bass than some other models so it's perfect for dnb. Orotophones are the only other brand I'd go, but they're way too expensive... And if you want to scratch, M44-7s should be a no-brainer... |

i went to tom lee today to get a pair of m447's but was directed to the m35-x. apparantly the record wear on the m447's is pretty bad? *shrugs* |

^ naw, everything I've read is that the m44-7s has the least record wear of any scratch needle at least. but Shure's in general are reknowned for their lack of record wear compared to any other brand of cart. Could be the m35s are better overall but m44-7s are going to give you way less record wear than an ortophone or a stanton.
Only issue with m44-7s is that the needles themselves wear out pretty quickly... suggested time to change your stylus is once every 8-9 months... |

m44-7s are great needles... depending on what you are playing... they have 3 major peeks, bass-mid-high, with a real dip in mid-bass and mid-high, so if you are playing something like trance or anything with a nice mid high nmellodie, they sound like poo-poo. the little brother the m44-g is pretty damn good for an all purpose needle and it fits on the 7's cart as well. better sound, less record burn, but slight less tracking.
decent price too i think.. tom lee should have stylus for i think $20 and they WILL fit on your m44-7 cart |
