POT/the new tax grab?
HHHHHMMMMMMM, i dunno, on one side id like to see possession decriminalized, but I think its all just a bid to tax the pot heads...
From the Province Newspaper : Tax growth for federal govt. could reach $2billion a year if pot is legalized............................... The tax winfall on legalized marijuana could reach nearly $2 billion dollars if leagalized says economics prof. Stephen Easton of SFU, using fairly conservative figures, has estimated the tax on Canadians anual pot consumtion to be around 1.9 billion. Easton says that if you use someone who smoked a joint once a week as a guid as a moderate user, then Canadians would consume about 63,500 kilograms of bud a year. At a tax rate of nearly $2,900 per kilo, that wrks out to $184 million - and thats the low end of the scale. If there were 7,000 grow ops in Vancouver and each produced 34 kilo's of bud a year that would total 238,000 kg. Taxed at $2,900 per kilo, that could yeild about $690 million. If there were 20,000 grow ops, it could reach $1.9 billion!!! As vice-shairman of the House of Commons committee studying the non-medical use of drugs, Alliance MP Randy White sais he is baffled as to how Senate reached its conclusion in yesterdays report calling for the legalization of marijuana. He characterized the recomendations as a Liberal tax grab. "We have met with witnesses across Canada, in the United States and in numerous countries in Europe - and the general consensus is that legalization is not the route to follow" said White. "Legalization will, by the Senate Committee's own admission,increase the number of users of cannabis with the only true benifit going to those who run the licenced distribution centers--- THE FEDERAL GOVERNTMENT. oh buddy you got your electrician right here!!! I know some shit, I've been working on and off for my dad's electrical company for tha past 5 years. I don't get tha real complicated shit though cause I go to work everyday just concentrating on money and when I'm gettin tha fuck outta there, but I know a lot.
