what if, initially someone objects to having sex with the other person... but the aggressive is very persistent ... and eventually the submissive person caves and just lets it happen, and doesnt resist during or after... is this still considered rape ?

Yes. once she says no and he decides to try to have sex with her again, he'd have to take all reasonable steps to ascertain whether or not she's really consenting. if he doesn't, and she lays a charge on him, an honest belief that silence is equated with consent will not suffice as a valid defense since there aren't really any reasonable grounds to believe that she was truly consenting. she could just as easily have been fearing for her life and felt that the only way she could live was to have sex with him.
