I was just thinking about this.
We go to the bar at 16, we can get fucking pissed drunk there and nobody gives a fuck. Kids buy alcohol at the age of 13 in the store...
And our raves ( see Id-t events, Filmriss Austria, Energy, Switzerland... ) are all either 18 or 19+ events.

You ppl ( BC ) go to raves at 15 and younger, get fucked on E or whatever, ( I have nothing against that... ), rave till the morning, but you can´t enter the bar if you are not 19.

So my question is: Do you think, if you were able to get drunk legally at the age of 16, would have done E or whatever you did first at a rave ? I think I would have got drunk at my first plaza rave in Van instead of popping the first time in my life.....

Interesting angle. Makes me ponder what if Fankie Bones himself didnt think of the "Storm Rave" years and years ago in New York. What if we didn't have Raves this side of the pond altogether. Would there still be an e/meth epidemic across North America? Granted the majority of our events are quite smaller in scale to the ones you listed, only events that even come close are down the coast and way down south.

Does this smaller event scale encourage more or less drug use?
Does it encourage an older or younger crowd?

Also culture is a huge factor in the drinking age over your side. We have father America who leans allot into our laws here in Canada. Where as your laws have been handed down generational. Now im not very knowledgeable regarding laws and culture of Europe, so I'll digress.

personally i think that if candas "rules/traditions" were closer to europe things would be easier. first off, in most cases you wouldnt get all the younger teens sneaking out of the house to "rebel" against their parents to go get drunk/party beacase it wouldnt be as big of a deal. i think if there were more options of younger people, or if things were just a little more laid back kids wouldnt feel the need to go get high or drunk as much, and there probebly would be less of a drug scene/ but i donno....

I agree with you twisted angel, but I don´t think it´s the lack of options.
I mean if someone has a hobby or more hobbies, they don´t need to get high or drunk... It´s just everyone´s decision. Or the rebellious minds against parents, society....
The thing is: If kids in Canada were able to get alcohol at a younger age, they wouldn´t do E or coke or whatever in their teens, or at least they would try it when they are 18 or something.
I live in a part of Italy, where it´s usual that 14 year olds puke at 10 o clock on a saturday nite in the middle of a street, and nobody gives a fuck.
That´s also bad, but here few people have done E in their teens or coke...
They do those things, if they start, usually when they are 18 or older....
And that´s also because we are stricter when it comes to drugs ( except holland and switzerland).
I don´t know it´s just a different society. There is prohibitionism in both continents, in Europe it´s more against drugs and in North America more against alcohol.... But in both situations: Prohibitionism has never brought good results IMO.

well, i never touched a hard drug until i was 18, my birthday i did e, then got fired for not making it to work,haha shitty job anyways, but yah, been doing drugs for 1 year now almost, ive done... e, meth, acid (loooove it!), mush, all the pot shit, and yah, at the end of 1 year i will be stopping it all, except maybe acid once in a while because acid rocks haha, but yah, your cultures just different from ours, your personalities and everything, i almost know for a fact that if we were aloud to drin at a younger age, people will still do a lot of drugs, may cut down a bit, but like, drinking doesnt compare to an E high or acid or anything, it just makes you feel drunk right, your right about it, but things wouldnt change that much, just be a lot more drunk kids, i cant believe society today, until 18, never touched a hard drug and NEVER wanted too, not even mush, my 14 year old sister tells me stories of all her little friends doing e and coke and shit at that age, like wtf happened? my 14 year old sister tried acid, like what the hell right, shes 14, all her friends are slutty drug fiends and i dunno, things were a lot dif when i grew up i guess

exactly...its really scary when you think about it...hah, and i thought i was a bad kid :s...these kids who are into this shit now...well in 20 or so years they will be the ones running busnesses, in government, they will be parents or other kids....and what values will they be giving to their children?

I think it has alot to do with the fact that you live in Italy and we all live around Vancouver B.C (the drug capital of Canada and weed capital of the world.) It's alot easier to get shit out here and has bigger influence on our society than your's.

yeah, I just don't get kids these days. like what the hell man?! The only drug I had ever touched until I was 16 (almost 17) was pot, and I occassionally drank. My exes little sis had tried pot, coke, e and was a regular drunk at age 14. I just don't get it! When I was 14 I still had a curfew and my idea of fun was sleep overs, going to the movies and ice skating, and nowadays a 14 year olds idea of fun seem to be drugs and drinking. What is going on with this world we live in? *sigh*

I think we're pretty high up there in the world standing as well. We've got the best everything for your money, at least compared to anywhere I've been. Sure, you can find better weed in Amsterdam (this is true; they know what they're doing over there), but you gotta pay like crazy; of course, there's slightly better coke available the farther south you go, but where are the pills!?

Which other places would you say are on the same level as us? I know Japan's great for dirt-cheap, high-quality stimulants; I read somewhere that 1/3 of all the people in Japanese prisons are there with an amphetamine-related charge. Oh, those guys crack me up! Good food, too...

well the thing is, the canadian dollar compared to the Euro is worth less.
That means, if you pay 10 bucks for a pill or a gramm of weed ( just an example, I know u guys pay way less ;o) ), then you would pay also 10 euros for a pill or a gramm of weed or hash in europe. But 10 euros would be 16 can dollars.... But it´s true, Amsterdam has all the stuff there is, but it is very expensive in the coffeeshops.A nice strength of marijuana costs about 7-15 euros in the coffeeshops and if we talk about hash it is between 10 and 25 euros per gramm ( good shit, like charas, skuff, ice-o-lator...)
I bought one type for 27 euros, called wolken ice. They kept it in the freezer... 27 euros are something like 44 bucks. Who would pay that in bc for a gramm of hash ????
But definitely, you guys have got the best weed for the best price.
I miss the bc bud, I used to get soo fucking high over there....
