BCIT textbooks

I have already looked on craigslist.org and I can only find the older version of the textbook that I need.

It is the newest edition of the textbook so I might have to bite the bullet and buy new.

I'm looking for...

Business Communication 5Th Canadian Ed, Guffey
Nelson/Cn
Binding Paperback
Copyright 08
ISBN 978-0-17-610393-4

any help would be great.

thanks!

Timdareez is an unknown quantity at this point
*filo on tims account*

look online.. you get your books within a week and save a bundle
ebay is really good too

talk to the 2nd year students as well .... also the bcit library stocks all the books so you can just borrow em when you need them. Every book i've bought collects dust except for when it's exam time

BCOM! If you know how to write a Memo you do not need this book.

I went to .5 lectures (yes, i left 1/2 way through the first lecture) of this class in 2 semesters of BCOM and still passed with flying colors. Some of the BEST POWER POINT presentations ever created were displayed in this class. Classics being Kevii~~'s Counter Strike AWP vs. RAGE Graph. Or Sean's persuasive argument on "Why to buy a Mac".

If you are new to BCIT I will recommend you do not buy a book until you need it (unless you are the kind of person who studies) but 40% of BCIT courses are garbage and they are just there to increase your workload so you learn how to properly manage your time.

Classes I will recommend buying the book in the first day (not the last day before the exam) are Computer Architecture. Say hi to Amon for me if he's not already arrested for fraud.

My advice. Oh and also check the used book posting in the Book Store and make friends with someone from second year and have them ask their friends.

My class starts tonight. I emailed the teacher if I could use the older text and she said it's different. I'm not sure what that really means.

It's a 13 week course and I actually want to do well in the course rather then just pass. This is my career we're talking about. I will check the used section of the bookstore today to see if they even have it. I can't talk to second year students as this textbook is copyright 08 so it's probably the first year it's being used, as stated in the first post it is the newest edition.

It probably means that the page numbers are different but the same content.

Seriously, new editions are mostly just to generate $, the content generally doesn't deviate from edition to edition. It just sucks when you have to rifle through pages to find the right one the class is referencing, so for convenience's sake it's better to stick to the newest edition.

God, the amount of books just sitting on my book shelf that I can't buy-back because of newer editions really really piss me off.

If you can write a memo, you will pass this class. It's a joke. Take it from someone who has taken the same class.

Is the lecturer still that 1/2 jap lady? Her lectures sucked some major bawls.

We had this stubby white dude for our labs. He was kick ass....but don't expect him to teach you anything.

BOOOOO

1) They're going to cost just as much
2) You need to be a student at those institutions to purchase their texts afaik.

Schools only ever order in enough new texts so that the people taking the courses can have one. People not enrolled in the courses are NOT supposed to take the books. Especially if it's the first semester that book is being used for that particular class.

1. Carrie's bookstore is out of the used copies, so she might have better luck looking at SFU or UBC to see if they still have used copies left. The class might not be as popular at either of those schools.

2. You don't need to be a student of UBC to buy books at their bookstore. They don't ask for ID when you buy books.

Amazon.ca: Business Communication Guffey

amazon has it for cheaper. they usually ship for free, too. a lot of students are ordering books from amazon instead of buying at their school bookstores. sometimes they have used versions too.

There's a paperback version of the 5th edition for $73 dollars.
