yes obviously they suck.

they have 24 gold records (making them top 5 for most consecutive gold records by a band), 11 platinum records, and 3 triple platinum records. theyve sold over 40 million units worldwide.

as for what does history have to do with it... bands like metallica, dream theater, iron maiden and smashing pumpkins have all stated they have been heavily influenced by them. the band has more than left a footprint in musical history, especially canadian music.
you may think they play shitty music but obviously a great number of people think otherwise.

Geddy Lee is an amazing bassist.
He's got a weird voice but suits the band's atmosphere perfectly.
Weird riffs, crazy drum patterns, freaky voice.

yea alot of people cant handle his high pitch. but then again most people only hear the same 4 or 5 songs the radio plays. closer to the heart being one of the worse songs for pitchyness...

he cant even hit those notes anymore though. live in concert he sings at least one octave lower than he used to.

That's actually a good point. I have only heard what the radio has to play... maybe I could be a Rush fan...?
