Not surprised at the price. This is U2, they're basically sized up to be the biggest band in the world these days.

Man, I'd kinda be down for this tour. I went through my U2-hater stage but now I'm kinda thinking back on their pre-Pop era and goddamn, they're a frikking talented band through and through. Sadly no chance in hell I'm willing to pay that much for it.

Pop was the last of an era,not the begining. Somtimes referd to as the dance trilogy; Achtune Baby/Zooropa/Pop. Pop was way ahead of it's time, the past couple after Pop didn't hold my interest, but they are back now using obvious loops (they always have used loops since the 90s) and a more dancy sound. Me likes.

Pop was disgusting. It was them catering to everything they said they wouldn't in their earlier years. Definitive selling out, though I guess that's kinda what they were aiming for.

The real end-of-an-era was Rattle N' Hum. Achtung Baby and Zooropa managed to keep a bit of an experimental edge to it, but Pop was just "Hey guys, let's make a ton of money and become superstars." And it worked.

so your saying Rattle N' Hum is experimental?

The Fly(Achtune Baby/Zooropa) was Bono's way via a charachter to become a stereotypical rock star. He really dove deep into that character and for the most part he became the Fly, which he still is today just more jaded.

No, I'm saying Rattle N' Hum was the end of the old-guard days of U2, when they were a lot more based in blues and classic rock. It was with Achtung Baby that they started to branch out, and IMO in Pop that they gave up any chance of branching out and just went for cookie-cutter design. Whether or not they were doing so ironically doesn't really matter because everything they've done since that has pretty much conformed to that design.
