I have 16 computers, I think 7 of them were built by parts people gave me.

When your at somebody's place or whatnot, ask them if they have any old computer junk.

Dont take 386/486's. :P

I got a 17" Mitsubishi monitor with Trinitron tube (the old style), non-working but probably fixable, I think the tube is still good. It had a better image than most current monitors. Will swap for trinkets (dance music CDs or whatever) but ya gotta pick it up from the Wack or Abbotsford.

If you/anyone seriously wants an old 486 (It's in a small case so it can be hidden away somewhere fairly easily.. something like l/w/h 12/10/4" )
You'd have to have your own OS to put on it, though it'd have an 850mb drive and 16mb of memory.

Otherwise it's going in the garbage. ;)

It'd probably be perfect as a router/server with linux or some other *nix or even just for the "90's office desktop computer" look of the case.

I run a hardware router off a p166 running debian linux on a 1.6gb hdd with 1075 bad sectors, has been running strong for about 5 years now.
