Vancouver, B.C. – Vancouver Canucks Senior Vice-President and General Manager Dave Nonis announced today that the Canucks have acquired goaltender Drew MacIntryre from the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for a conditional pick in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

MacIntyre, 23, split the 2005-06 season between the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL and the Toledo Storm of the ECHL.
In 13 regular season games with Grand Rapids, MacIntyre posted a record of eight wins and four losses (8-4-0), a 2.91 GAA and save percentage of .897.
The backstop also made five postseason appearances with the Griffins.

MacIntyre’s record through 33 games with Toledo was 24-7-2 and included two shutouts along with a 2.06 GAA and a save percentage of .926. He played six playoff games with the Storm.

The Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island native was originally drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the fourth round, 121st overall in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

Mr. Charles Wang of the islanders has a young almost 25 yr old goalie..so you never know with age these days who will grow into a star or who will fall like an Oleg Petrov

The New York Islanders have signed goalie Rick DiPietro to a 15-year, $67.5 million contract. The deal will pay DiPietro $4.5 million annually.

No player should be signed toa 15 year contract. Its ludicrous.

The only player in hockey signed for that long was gretzky and that was a personal service type of contract *lifetime contract* if you will.

from the highlights i saw of last nights game, i would expect flaherty. he made some amazing stops and looks like hes got some serious potential.

hes a veterin, hes reached his potential. But he is definatly someone who can ease the load from roberto's shoulders.

I hope that Wade will be the go-to backup goalie for the canucks! He still has what it takes to be at the NHL level, plus his wife Karmie is hot, I know...I was there with an equine therapist out in campbell valley. Go WADE!
