I say you got shafted because first off, you got something that is not legal. So if it breaks down on you (you go after Joe for that), or you get caught with it, you are fucked. Plus there is no warranty with your product. No receipts, pirated software = high risk, man.

yeah true. it's usually pretty reasonable to assume that something isn't stolen when you buy it though. but yeah, people really ought to check that stuff out.
