dose anyone have this yet? i heard its only about a month old....

we just got it, and it seems pretty rad....

the internet run through the mobile phone towers....so all you have to do it plus the modem into any outlet and internet away!

I believe he's talking about Broadband over Power Line or whatever they call it now.

I remember when they were doing Trials of this a few years back.

never heard of this new internet..

but what do you expect.. we get internet through our tv cable using shaw, and internet through our phone using telus. bc hydro is next?

ps. portable internet sounds a lot like a wireless connection.

Not broadband through power lines, this is just cellular internet. Plug it in, it receives a cellular signal, boosts it wirelessly to your laptop within range.


The power line testing won't happen for ages if it does. Power lines cannot automatically 'share' space with bandwidth like cable or phone lines can, but dedicated 'power lines' for internet work, and send information faster than today's harddrives can actually write information (from what I recall reading the article aaaaages ago).

i think that is what he's talking about since rogers and sierra wireless just launched a new aircard in canada.

but it's not really a new way to connect, wireless (mobile) internet has been around for about 4 years

you can basically do that with most any smartphone nowadays. Just plug your phone into your laptop or bluetooth a connection and use your cell phone as a modem.
