Dont look at me I voted yes for the STV.
Canadian politics pisses me off because of how much power the PM has and useless the MP's can be. Passing legislation is a barking match. They waste too much time bickering over Belinda Stronach love triangles. Also once elected constituents can't do anything about their MP even if he fucks up. Where's the accountability promised?

I too voted STV but now that i think about it--If Canada had a voting system that allowed a better representation then it would just create a very pluralist political landscape. In Italy they had tried it out in the 90s and just last year i believe they switched back to a first-past-the-post system like we have now.

Locals said that it was very hard to get anything done in parliament because Italy is so varied in beliefs and interests. I talked to Germans who also have the similiar populist problems.

I guess it sounds sort of quasi-draconian to be against better representation but it does sound a bit logical. I'm more interested in making the government more effective and introducing new direct democracy mechanisms that allow the public to keep the government in check like MP recall et al.
