If I were to do it again, I'd choose a fabric that doesn't fuzz up on the edges as easily - having it be a bit stretchy helped for fitment though. They cover exactly what they're supposed to cover bang-on. A little bit of fabric glue around the edges should fix up the fuzz a bit.

You can see here, they fit pretty damn tight - and don't forget, most of the time you're not this close to my feet.


Goodfellow: If you go to do a pair - I suggest making seperate templates for each shoe, you'd think flipping one shoes' template would re-create the other side, but there are miniscule differences in shape sometimes (I checked, and I had to do two separate templates) -- DO IT & POST 'EM UP! Bring the heat!

so did you just use straight fabric glue for the fabric then ? or anything else?

I should get some grey suede type fabric and do my DC kicks..... I repainted/sealed the white already.. and got some new white laces. Haven't done anything to the grey shit, so I'm thinkin that would be a dope idea!

fuzz on the edges of the fabric isn't always a bad thing. but on this particular fabric, it is.

for something like this, i'd recommend using a pattern with cleaner lines and more of a contrast with the colours. IMO it doesn't look clean.

in agrreance on the laces, they need to go.

hmmm.. no extra pics here with me.. but you can tell the difference in the first two pics I posted - I stuffed the tongue REAL fat... the shoes are so much more comfy. Stitch ripped the old label off, cut a small hole where the label was, stuffed with cotton batting & sewed the hole shut. Sewed a rectangular tag out of the fabric & sewed that back over the stitched hole and around the front of the tongue. It looks as though I was never in there. ps: sewing through leather is rough!

Even though they are not my style..I think you did an awesome job! Its really creative..and if my brother/sister made me some custom shoes..it wouldnt matter the design. I would be thrilled that someone would put that much time and consideration in my gift.
