just search on the net and theres lots of 50+ lcd tvs, no im not talking about dlp, proj lcd, etc.... they have been out for a while now. samsung, sharp etc...

my plasma died :( after it dropped off the mounting. thats why its always good to have a warranty, lucky theres no physical damage to it :)

In the market for a new tv been starting my research. For those that have an LCD do you find that the refresh rate is a bit slow? My buddy's dad has a 40" JVC and when watching hockey it seems to stutter.
Does a namebrand really mean that much when it comes to plasma?
The Legend or some shit is on for just under a 1000.

.....rawb, what kind of panel do you own?

.....the only thing wrong with a dlp set is all the movement inside the set itself due to the color wheel and the hinged mirror texas instruments chip.

as far as micro display projection gose if your a gamer, or a heavy sports watcher DLP is your best option due to faster response times.LCD rear projos are excellent for more home theater due to the soft contrast and nice satrated colors like a cinema.

lcd flat panel is effective in the 26-40" screen size. a 46" LCD panel is about the largest i would go if your into video games or sports. evan with samsungs game mode or toshibas 'cinespeed' chip lcds are still rather sluggish when you go into larger screen sizes.

Plasma is the best overall for color,contrast and response time. immage retention issues and supposed 'plasma leaks' are pretty much a thing of the past and the majority of plasama panels have pixel orbiting and white wipe.

it all comes down to what screen size you want and what appliaction your going to be using it for.

the sony/samsung lcd panels and doing really well lately....expcept for the XBR modles wich,frankley, hav been a complete fucking disaster and sony will be ruined if they dont resolve the issues they have....

/\ Ya. um on second thought, it's actually made by NASA. They spent billions on training astronauts to be shrunk down to sub-atomic level, so they can fit 2 million trained mini-astronauts inside my TV, to give me the best outerspace-quality picture you can get.

The remote is made out of plutonium mixed with NyQuil, to give it that extra green response time. And the tv stand is made out of cheerleaders, to give it that "YAY" feel to it.

Oh and did I mention it has time-travel capabilities? Fuck T-VO, I just fastforwarded to the next Stanley cup playoffs, and found out that to everyones surprise, the NY Yankees decided to switch sports and start playing hockey, and they actually won the next Stanley cup! Can you believe it?!?!?

Ok now I'm making shit up. But I'm sure Rawby-poo already knew that, seeing as he is the master of all that is known in this universe.

Oh and I used my imaginairy TVs time travel feature to discover that in the future, people who wear the same hat for 3 years, have a 84% chance of getting rectal cancer. So Rawbykins, you best be giving up your uranium-anal-douching, otherwise you're in for quite the surprise.

you must have the lx196 then yea?....or the hl196 dropped down the 720p.

ive noticed that 720p smokes 1080i in gaming and sports on lcd panels of that size. and evan 1080p in most cases.

the 1080p thing is such a myth anyways, on the good majority of the panels out on the market all it is is just a upconvert within the panel from 1080i to 1080p.....rubbish. some people are just hell bent on getting that number, and i have no issues selling 1080p whatsoever....but personally i wouldnt buy one just yet...
