Guitar Players!

Well one of my resolutions is to dust off my old acoustic guitar i bought and start to teach myself how to play all over again, anyone have any tips or tricks they can lend? I picked up a tabs helper Guitarpro i believe its called pretty useful but once shit gets tricky like the fast hand movements my slow ass gives up lol so ya any suggestions?

Fuck tabs, unless there's a technique you really want to learn in a song. Pick up a book of chords, learn basic open chords (aka folk chords) and then learn barre chords. Once you've got those down, you can play rudementary versions of any song.

Then all you need is scales to begin lead work.

and power chords in co-relation
major minor
the keys
scales.

Power chords are useless, in my opinion.. unless you're ripping up metal. Punk always sounds better with open chords.

They are very useful!
the beginning of 7 isnt it?

Yea my best friend yelled at me tonight for doing tabs haha he said its a waste of my time, he sent me to this site that basically shows you each chord, where to put your fingers etc so thats my game plan now
