i think it's neat that my sister gets to go a school with so much history behind it. it really changed (by improving) the lives of a lot of americans. both white (yes, they go there too) and black people.

I guess what people don't see is it is perfectly okay to have pride in what you are or where you came from, and having that pride doesn't mean that you think you're better than anyone else. A lot of people have always had the basic rights to do things like vote, attend high school or university, drink from a water fountain, sit on the bus, get a job etc. etc. and it's hard to believe that some people are proud that they have come to that point because they can't relate on any kind of level. It's not just black people that feel this pride and have had to overcome these things.

I mean, just because you may not feel any reason to be proud of what you are and where you came from, doesn't mean you have to shit on anyone else who does.

that's just my perspective on the matter, not really directed at any single response in particular.
