Pride 33: Second Coming

This Saturday - anyone watching?

Pride's 2nd US show - on paper at least there are some more competitive matchups but still nothing incredibly blow-away (too many rematches). Still think they should have had lil' nog face silva but I guess they have some stupid notion that there must be american fighter in every fight...

Top of the card looks great Hendo vs Silva II should be good (even if Hendo is a natural 185er), Gomi vs Diaz should be a lot of fun, Shogun vs. Overeem's first fight was incredible so the rematch should be good. The rest are more or less jobber matches for some established talent (other than Misaki vs Trigg) but it's a good way to showcase Pride fighters to the uninitiated. Still think that the shows in US are more or less "Pride Lite" due to the stupid NSAC rules which robs the fans of some of the reasons that a lot hardcores prefer Pride to UFC but the fights should still be competitive.

Note that in Pride:

Heavyweight = 206+ (no upper limit but they're talking about starting a super-heavyweight division)
Middleweight = 186-205
Welterweight = 161-183
Lightweight = 160 or less

I was in Japan when Cro Cop fought Silva and KO'd him, it was a battle of modern warriors, almost like Conan The Barbarian when he was fighting in the pits.
