Taking a trip May 1. Ideas?

Hey,

I am taking my girlfriend away with me to a far off place b/c shes finishing up school soon. I have narrowed by choices down to about 5 potential places. Just wondering if anyoen has been to any of these places and if its a good idea that we go.

A little bit about us:

22 and 23
Like to party (alcohol only)
Like socializing w/ strangers but not trading partners with them.
Like outdoorsy adventures
Like clear water and white sand.

Destinations in order of most likely to travel to:

1. Veradero, Cuba
2. Negril, Jamaica
3. Cancun, Mexico
4. Costa Rica (havent looked into this much)
5. Dominican Republic (havent looked into this much)


Any experiences? Thoughts?

I was thinking all inclsive b/c most deals seem to only be a couple hundred more for an all inclusive.

right now I have a price of 1149$ per person for 8 days in cuba all inclusive taxes in. Can you do better?

Cuba's really cheap right now, I'm sending loads of clients to Varadero....you can get like 5 stars at amazing prices if you hunt around. what property is that quote for?

ps- if you do the dominican, definitely do punta cana...the other side has crappy beaches.

Hey Prozac,

That quote actually was before I checked out some other online which are far better. My only gripe is that some of the 4 and 5 star vardero resorts look nice but I made the mistake of checking tripadvisor reviews online and it seems so shitty. My girlfriend and I don't want to spend every day with a bunch of fat 40-80 year olds. I dunno.

Could you reccomend anything else? We dont really want to spend more then 1200 a person.

I have been to both Cuba (i stayed just outside Veradero) and the Dominican Republic ( twice)

I like the Dominican better for all the constant activities, but if you stay in a resort it is hard to get out to clubs. My resort had a bus leaving at 11pm and returning at 3 am every 2nd day but other than that it was all in the hotel (small club in the hotel..not to great)

Although i stayed in a resort in Cuba i did manage to get out on night to Veradero. Their were a few good clubs in and around the city. I hit 5 clubs between 10-30 pm and 5 am. If you go to cuba though you have to be very very careful of pickpockets and theives at all time (even on resorts).
