i fucking love my rio-volt, it has a flash mem card built in so when it plays mp3 cds it loads 8 minutes of track then stops spinning! this means i can get 15-17 hours of play from my RECHARGABLES! yeah.
i originally thought id get my whole music collection on cd in mp3 format but i ended up bassically just making a new cd every 2-3 months and leaving it in there (100-150 songs per cd, how can you go wrong?), its also got a pretty decent AM-FM radio. the only 2 things that annoy me are:

1) its not a great diskman when playing normal cds (battery life is cut in half)

2) when scrolling through the list of songs you have to wait a few seconds for each highlited song to scroll over (so if you have like a million songs that start with Congo Natty--- *song* then all you see is congo nat untill you wait and let it scroll, sort of annoying)

but i still wouldnt give it up for the world, its super super and is also upgradable (and unlike other cd/mp3 players you can fastforward through mp3s)

Hard drive players are fuckin heavy and pricey indeed so I suggest u get an MP3 CD player called SlimX by iRiver from www.iriver.com Those are cheap enough and simply great! Firmware upgradeble as well.
If you have any questions just PM me.
