~*~Working Out~*~

Who here goes to the gym and works out on a regular basis?

FAWK I just joined the gym a mnth or two ago...I'm finding it hard to get myself motivated to go daily or even atleast 3 x a week...MIN.!!! :(

If I do go...I'll work out a lil and wanna get lazy and leave...So, my q's is what can I do to get MOTIVATED and DETERMINED? It's so HARD to go daily and work my ass of when I'm there instead of doing things half pace and checking out girls *haha* J/K I heard that you have to train yourself and thought process...Make your mind think you can do it and get into it for atleast 3 weeks then it becomes a habit?

Oh and I'd say the best motivation is to just think about how good it feels when you work out. You feel invincible.

Well I was into it for like a week then I took a day or two off then it became a week and so on...SHIT! Why is it that once you stop for a day or so...it ends up being long??

Yeah I agree you do feel better when you work out...I think working out releases some kinda hormone into body that makes you feel better about yourself etc

I always try and get back into it but its hard and im dancing my ass off 3 days a week so I figure it makes up for a bit of it. I'm such a lazy ass too cuz we have an exercise bike, treadmill and lil weights and stuff downstairs yet I rarely use them! :P

When you see results your motivated to work harder. The better shape your in, the easier it is to go more often and the more you'll get out of it. But yeah, if going to the gym isn't part of your daily/weekly routine you wont go. Try finding someone to go with you.
As for what Booey said, visible development in a week?? not likely

Some people do get results that fast. I do. It's why I'm not too worried about getting back into shape. The problem with this is that once you get to a certain point it is very hard to get bigger or leaner.

Best motivation I ever had was going with a good friend of mine - even when one of us wasn't quite into it the other would push to go, so we wound up going for about 6 months pretty regularly, about 3 times a week. Part of i was that we had been friends for so long (mebbe 10+ years at that time) but had started to have less and less in common that it was really cool that we found something to 'share' and keep us close.

Unfortunately she got into a car accident that screwed her back up and limited what she was able to do, so she fell out of it...and then I fell out of it.

But yeah, other people can often motivate us better than we can motivate ourselves...

werd exactly what len said.

the hard part is just getting started. once you make it a routine to really push yourself harder in the gym, itLL be like brushing your teeth when you get outta bed.... it becomes an essential thing to do. plus, the longer you keep up the habbit of working out regularly, the harder itLL become to lose the habbit.

You should look into having a program made for you.. Some of the trainers at the gym, will probably help you set up a routine that's right for you, dependent on the goals you are trying to achieve.

My advice:
Keep it up on a regular basis for at least 2 months... And I mean REGULAR, no "stopping one week, starting up the next".. Once you pass that 1-2 month hurdle, it just becomes part of your "routine"... You'll start to feel a sense of obligation without really knowing why. After aobut 3 months of regular work out, you should stat to see some results. Just don't expect to get it right away after the first day, the first week, or even the first month.

You won't see the results right away, but I assure you that they will come... Not only might you put off some pounds, you'll start to learn that it really does relieve stress, and it'll drive you to go more... It helped me with a lot of my insecurities...

Tell me about it...I have a membership @ a gym too, I pay $26 something a month, and I've hardly gone the lats 3 or 4 months, maybe in total, I've gone like 20 times..LOL.
I dunno, Im just not motivated, I was bugged by Vinces brothers girlfriend who used to be a stripper and wanted to dance with her, so we joined the gym....and fuck...no way.
Ive never worked out all my life, and im fine, so why hassle myself to start going now?
If i go, i go...if i don't ...o well. :trippin:

If u work out for more than 30minz u start burning muscle mass. Before 30 minz u r burning calories n shyt. Maybe get involved in some cardio training like kick boxing or yoga or something. About the 30 minute thing I know it applys for women im not sure if it applys for men tho? meh

I havent been to the gym on a regular basis since like last feb cuz im a lazy fuckin alki :toasted: ...*sigh*but the new year is close at hand and im going to start goin to the gym again in jan!VEE VANT 2 PUMP JU UP!

p.s. for chix who wanna start goin 2 the gym dont sign with just ladies fitness they r a-holes and try 2 ding u for hella $$$$$$

i try to go everyday, but i end up taking a day or 2 off throughout the week...it really helps having my gym really close by
i hate taking more then 2 days off in a row

if you're going to go everyday, make sure you leave some days to just doing cardio or seperate muscle groups for certain days because you need to let your muscles 'rebuild' themselves...

when i first started going to the gym i went with a friend, that really helped
when you first start out it's nice to have someone with you, but now i'd rather go alone
tons a people put off going to the gym because their friend isn't going, or they just end up talking or slacking when doing an exercise

i have no goal or set routine of going to the gym, i go to exercise and stay in shape
i guess the only motivation i have is to not become a fat slob
either you're going to keep it up or you're not going to
if you really want to, you'd have no problem with going

I go in spurts too.
And I like to listen to Lisa Lashes when I work out...
I actually have a cd of hers, that goes to the beat of my feet when I run on the treadmill.
