Proposal for the 'New' FNK

Since the 'new' FNK karma system enables a self moderated board, I propose that the user with the most good karma basically gets to run the board.

We, the members, are clearly defining who we value as board leaders based on who we give good karma to. It only makes sense that these board leaders get some sort of added power. What that power is, I will leave to us to define.

Thoughts?

ps. Rawb has a fuck load of karma. keep that in mind.

I'll have to agree with you on that one there Miska. You pose some good points. the only thing I miss about the old karma system is knowing why or why not the person agrees.

Not to mention the mods have been complete nazi's since the new system was installed... as I have mentioned in another thread.

Why don't we just let the karma valuing system be what it is and just move/flush out the threads that just don't belong where they were?

Worked for the longest time and had very few complaints. Being a janitor on this board isn't a glamorous job but someone has to do it.

Yes... we would love to keep all threads on track with minimal threadjacking or off topic comments but lets be realistic.

I suggest we leave the power of keeping the threads 'on topic' to the users involved now that they have the power to self-moderate them and leave the rest of the cleanup to the mods.

So everything will be just the way it was before but now the users get to collapse the posts that they deem meaningless.

I like what you have to say about that, and I agree with it for the most part, however I do not like the fact that ever since, and this isn't you personally Winston, the mods have been voting down posts for really no reason. Like you said, let the posters decide whether or not it belongs in the thread.

I respect the way you have run this board and have actually complimented the way this site is moderated on another forum I post on, as I have always felt like you are able to say what you want on here without facing a banning or judgment, but I fear that quality is slowly being lost.

^^ I don't see what the big deal is.
If a post is collapsed, it can be read at the click of a button. It's not like the post is being deleted, so I like it. It saves me from having to read post after post of off-topic crap before I actually get to the meat of the thread.

Opening the new FNK site to people and then having them run amok and not following the 'rules' that were set down probably frustrated the hell out of some of the admins.

It is understandable... just like inviting a bunch of people to your new home and seeing chaos happen.

Now that this 'breaking in' period has passed and people had time to think about the various options what I have suggested should make sense.

In the old board we had forum moderators but some have moved on and others just don't have as much time as they had in the past. I am much too busy to cruise the forums and read everything that is posted. In fact I have asked for the users assistance in the past to point out posts that should be moderated/edited.

So now with the new karma value system the entire user community got deputized and are all now moderators of the site.

As I suggested... leave the moving/flushing of true off topic threads and deletion of inappropriate threads to the admins and the rest is up to the users.

Now we should let some time pass and see if this new self-moderation concept works or is abused and then make a decision then.

I swear to fucking god... if it keeps up like the NHL broadcasters with 'NEW NHL' I'll have a shit. It's not fucking new anymore you nitwits. It's the NHL... that's it, that's all.

New "rules" and official announcement to be posted very very shortly. FNK Development Team are working hard to debug all errors first prior to posting. Our apologies for this delay.

Please bear with us and your patience is appreciated.

On a personal note, I hear, understand, and read all the frustration on the boards in the past week. Sometimes change take a little getting used to, even for admins, but changes had to be made.
