Music on the Beach? Legality

I'm wondering if anyone knows the laws on bringing music, (turntables/speakers) to the beach?

During the day is what i'm wondering about cause at night is easy to do.

Any ideas?

i actually looked into that. I believe you need something called a Socan permit for public music and it costs more if you deem it a dancing event. As well, they have a special other permit that they give out on a limited basis and it's all scheduled yearly. I didn't try to get one but you probably can if you give it a shot.

I also think they allow these permits for non-profit causes or charities. I didn't look too much further into it. But I had the same thought last month and wanted to do it. I still do too.

We used to do this back in Kamloops all the time. We just called and told the police and they were fine with it as long as it didnt run to late into the night on week days, weekends we could go later.
Though, the cops out here dont seem to be as easy going as the ones back home.

if you are just jamming with friends, there is no way the cops will say anything until around 9 or 10. noise bylaws prohibit amplified music past a certain time, and that can even include inside your home (so they can shut down house parties), but before that time... the MUSIC won't be the issue if they have one. Doesn't mean they won't find another reason tho if they don't like what they see. just don't do it downtown

for example if they show up and feel like shutting you down it could be for drugs/drinking in public/etc

parks board bylaws also include this...

(c) No person shall operate any amplifying system or loud
speaker in any park without the written permission of the General
Manager first had and obtained.
