much fire drama

there's a huge brush fire across the street from my work.
we're all just sitting here at the end of the barn watching the fire trucks show up. hwy 16 is closed which means i might not be able to go home.
the flames are higher than our arena roof and the sky is black.

we'd go help but we have 75 head of horses to watch if the wind changes and the fire jumps across the road and into our front pastures.

this is freaky and a bit surreal.

go out there and try to stomp out thousands of acres of wild fire?
right.

and fyi the fire didn't reach our property because they got it extinguished before the wind changed.
several thousand acres were burned but no animals nor people were hurt. 14' flames all the way along the road was weird.
