kind of a mirror situation of what's happening in this fresh prince clip, except it's a cousin of mine.
we grew up together and he's always been a happy go lucky guy. His dad walked out on the family when he was 5 or so because he was a womanizer, and he's been raised by my parents and relatives ever since. in all that time his dad never even tried to contact him ONCE, claiming he wasn't internet savvy or whatever.
fast forward and now he's gonna graduate university soon and now his dad is back in his life suddenly 'proud' of him. my cousin, bless his heart, holds no grudge or bitterness and is really eager to reconnect with him and acts like nothing wrong ever happened.
the rest of us were kind of leery of what was going on but figured he was old enough to make his own decisions. the thing is that he's now thumbing his nose at the rest of us. we're not jealous or anything, but his dad is now talking serious shit and giving 'reasons' why the extended family made it difficult for him to stay in the first place and shit like that.
the cousin, obviously wanting to exonerate his dad and believe him to be a good guy, believes this. a while ago his biological dad was making grandiose promises about both of them working together on some business venture, and now suddenly the dad has to go overseas for something else and of course that plan is on 'hold'.
basically he's jerking him around not giving a shit and we (the family) don't know if our place to intercede or at least tell him what's happening.
