As much as I despise the overt US ass-licking this PM does, I've still gotta give him props for standing up to the AhmehriKKKan cunts over Arctic sovereignty for Canada.

I'll gladly pay taxes for more ships to patrol the North, if need be.

I wouldn't peg Harpers handling of the north exactly as "standing up" to America. It took him long enough to announce that base. The northern nations are all way ahead on the science and as everyone knows funded research can sway logic in many directions. They need to do more to assert their claim.

As for this clemency move, completely retarded. Why would he reopen the debate in such a way? This will only damage his image as once again Harper makes fundamental changes without discussion.

Pakistan is a mess right now. I've been following this marshall law story and Musharaff is setting himself up for assassination and fueling radical political divisions. He brought himself into power through a coup and sits on the military as well as the executive. They're is going to be massive protests coming up and he's going to be ousted unless he restores the constitution, retires his military uniform and calls elections like he promised.
