moving into my new place this week and i needs new furniture...gonna check out inspiration but i've heard everything from "they're awesome!" to "they're crap!"

any suggestions on where to go besides ikea??

Nicole is right, koolhaus has some amazing things it but it's fairly pricey.

wander around and about the general area of all the stores i listed above, there are small stores popping up around town all the time.

also hit hamilton street in yaletown. there's another eq3 there, along with at least 3 other stores worth checking out.
some alright 2nd hand shops in gastown and on commercial.
stop in at inform on water street to learn why you haven't made it in life until you have a charles sofa and an 18 karat gun lamp.

check out the brick, its actually pretty decent prices compared to other stores, and u can do the whole dont pay till 2090 thing. if money is no object, they have some pretty expensive furniture at inspirations. i saw a couch there for around 40- 50 grand.

Urban decor on Davie between Bute and Jervis is small but has some nice stuff, classy like Goulet. I got a bookcase from there, they modified the dimensions and colour based on my needs.

I got my couch from United Furniture (which I believe is now owned by the Brick, don't quote me) in Richmond, no complaints and a very reasonable price.. I would recommend Richmond in general for couch shopping, it has served me well with both my current and ex-couch.

well 'cept for the walmart bit, but nobody's perfect.

UA is the best for upholstery... i have a couple friends who work for them. the eco-suede is delicious and they're making major steps in the domestic market with more sustainable production methods.

i had the carpenter in last nite for measurements for a custom desk and dj table, i've heard good things about moebler in richmond and inspiration is having a warehouse sale this weekend i'm gonna check out...sunday i've got a "colour consultation" with some broad who's gonna help me pick out paint.

there's a lot of yuppies on craigslist just dying to get rid of some awsome furniture if you don't care that it was used....and at a bargain price at that.


never hurts to take a look seeing how you don't have to leave your desk to do so
