my friend showed me this site tonight. at first glance i was confused, but after reading the story behind the country of Sealand, and some of the history i was quite amused. 40 years ago the UK abandon an old offshore naval defense platform that was far enough off the coast that when the UK abandon it, the base was suddening in international waters to help defend against german boats during the war. a british couple sailed out and erected a flag. by erecting the flag the couple claimed that territory and named it sealand. they were eventually recognized as a soverign nation and have gone on to develop their own currency and even issued passports. we decided we're going to purchase lord and ladyship at sealand, check it out.
