Wonderful news,

outside of work having a smoke, get a call from radical entertainment. i have a 30 minute phone interview tomorrow for a desktop support specialist position.

the problem is it's contract till sept, but there is a chance to go full time.

fuck yea, doing desktop support at a video game company, is there anything better.
If i get this position, it just builds more confidence to get my A+

once you've got that experience, you can forget about A+.

My brother just got A+

it's good to have and only $350

He went into Kodak for support, he just flashed the certificate, got the job in 10 minutes.

In the IT world the only cert that will actually land you a job is from Cisco.

If you have the experience they'll pick that over cert any day. If you really need the cert for the position, they'd sooner pick someone with experience and put them through the certification themselves than someone with no experience and the cert on their resume.

A+ certified technicians are honestly a dime a dozen, and it really doesn't reflect on how useful you'll be to the environment.

fair enough, i'm just telling you that you don't need it if you've already had a decent job in the industry. but then i don't have any certifications. i've also got 3 other guys under me at work (no homo) and i have no idea what certs they have and don't care, because practical experience is much more valuable.

I applied for lots of desktop support jobs, but this one was the only one that came up.
i dont know what it was, i mean, my resume is pretty kick ass.
i did mention to them in my cover letter that I was interested in obtaining A+

but what it sounds like from ryan, i didnt have to.

this place is weird.

to be honest, i'd leave out the part about being interested in A+. it makes it seem like you don't already know that stuff, which isn't to your advantage whether you do or not. set a higher goal or don't list one at all. my 2 cents.
