yeah but im factoring in warranty and all taxes and everything. pretty sure i can save about $500 at least by getting a toshiba or something, no?

Keep in mind that mac's actually have a decent resale value as well.

and the current macbook generation has been around for awhile....so the chances of weird hardware issues are pretty slim.

I had a toshiba die on me and it was like pulling teeth to get everything sorted with them.

Also you seem so dead against Macs, you have pretty much made up your mind, i don't think this thread is really telling you what your hoping to hear. You can save money if you buy a cheapo Toshiba, mine died, but alot of people have them go on for years.

I cant believe how many ppl are sugesting Macs right now. What happened to the PC love?

Anyways I envy the people who have the 13inch Mac lap tops in school, and would highly recommend it as its very it is made by mac and is very small and light which has become a pain with my 15ich. Especially for those who are not computer geeks, Mac is simple, the short keys make things quicker, and I dont think I have had any major techy problems at all with my mac. The only problem you may have is finding stuff to dl like Microsoft Office.

Also DONT GET A REFURBISHED COMPUTER. Again unless your a computer geek and can usually figure out tech problems on your own or get help from your good buddies 24/7, you will probably face problems in the long run and the warranty is usually not as good.
