Best way to do it is just walk around the neighbourhood and call all the numbers on the signs to see what places are available. I found a place there last sept by doing the same thing and it worked out pretty well.
You'll probably want to do it soon as a lot of people will have given their 1 month notice aug 1st so places should be coming available. |

i looked for 4 months before i found my spot off robson. the calling/walking around thing is great, and demoralizing. But worth the time since it's often a crapshoot and a horse race at the same time.
don't rule out craigslist as there are (apparently) people who need to leave their apt for life reasons. so they'll post something online and it'll be gone in hours. So keep your eye on that shit while you're looking. good luck. |

In my experience the best way to find an apartment is to get a couple people and spend half a day canvasing downtown, taking down phone numbers for buildings advertising vacancies. Then regroup, execute a flanking maneuver in a button-hook pattern, pick 5 of the most promising listings and check 'em out.
