i find it amusing when people declare that they will shit on religion. fair enough thats fair. but then they shit on christianity and leave all the other religions alone cause you know, those ones arent very fucked up at all.
the only thing worse than a religious zealot is an atheist zealot. because they arent declaring what they DO believe, they are declaring what they DONT believe.

Carlin did talk about what he did believe in though - The Sun. And that's something perfectly viable to believe in. Heck, for a generation a bunch of Egyptians were sun worshippers (Yay for the Sun God, he sure is a fun God, Ra Ra Ra!).

I'm not an atheist or even an agnostic, but I say most all of Carlin's points are valid.

Religion is just a type of philosophy that you choose to ascribe to. None is right or wrong. Only actions based on the philosophies are right and wrong, IMHO.

we are talking past the ocean plains (which are completely barren, not even plankton). he means right at the divergent boundaries of the plates, like the pacific-antarctic ridge for example (which in non nerd speak means where two plates are pulling apart), and possibly (cant remember fully) and converging plates, where they come together.
what happens at the bottom of the ocean when you have this occurrence is you get shit from the upper mantle spewing out into the water called a hydrothermal vent. this creates large carbon and sulfur geysers.
at these levels there is literally zero light. this is areas of the ocean explorers have been to less than outer space. like less than a dozen times.

anyways, what happens if there is a bacteria that thrives on the sulfur, and there is a small food chain that grows off of the bacteria including tube worms, clams, and i think some bigass crabs.. probably other types as well. this shows that plant life with ties to the sun is not necessarily at the base of the food chain.




but you arent expected to know all this anyways. this is the result of being a stoner and taking earth sciences.
