my boyfriends from quebec, and he told me that the poutine over there is CRAZY!
like you can order a full on club house sandwich with poutine, and it will come looking like a HUGE ass plate of poutine, and the sandwich would be under there. somewhere.
and they had all kinds of other things buried in poutine too!

if any of you ever go to montreal for a visit and want to try the most EXCELLENT poutine ever... Then go over by ste catherine and St- Laurent street... You'll find 2 places... Frite Dore or The Montreal Pool Hall. There is also "La Belle Province", however even there poutine can't match up to those 2 other greasey spoon shops.

on another note, I am delighted to have found a deli in vancouver that imports smoked meat from Lester's Meats out of Quebec... Now that is what montreal smoked meat is all about!!!!

The corner of Rue Sainte Catherine and Rue Saint Laurent is just awesome in general. Great artwork, lots of deppaneurs, and great places to eat all within like a two block radius.

The Plateau has some good places to eat as well, if you don't mind all the uphill walking.

whoa, that's RIGHT when i made curtis detour and stop at fritz for poutine.
he'd never had fritz poutine, and at first declined my offer to get a size bigger so we could share.
