Terror!!

We're all so used to seeing terror attacks nowadays. Suicide bombers in Iraq, Israel, Pakistan. Killing children at a school in Russia etc.
All equalling as appauling but still as I watch on TV from Vancouver it's still a world away. Even the World trade Ctr in New York felt somewhat distant.

However these recent attacks in Mumbai, India I've been glued to the Television set. It feel like it hit real close to home. Just a few months ago I spent so many hours day after day at Leopolds bar drinking and hanging with new friends. The staff were great and although I only spent 3 days there and they see 100's of tourists a week they seemed to all remember my name.

I spent a lot of time hanging in the lobby of the Taj hotel and even snuck into the pool pretending to be a guest.

It feels pretty crazy to me that these insanely well orchastrated attacks happened in my favorite spot in one of my favorite cities!

Below are just a couple blogs I wrote about my experiences in this amazing city. I can't wait until the day I can go back, have a beer in Leopolds and sneak into that pool!

Have you read Shantaram? It's neat that most people who have visited Mumbai always have a story or two to tell about Leopold's Cafe. They mentioned Leopold's on CNN and I was like, "That's the place from the book Shantaram!" Anyhoo, you should read it if you haven't.

My work has an office that was about 10 minutes away (north of mumbai) that was on lockdown for the first 24 hours when the events occured. Apparently nobody was able to enter or leave the building. Communication was also disrupted as well. On fridays confrence call that we have with other sites including our mumbai site. You can hear it in there voice that there was fear and uncertainty on really whats ahead.

so messed up.....i really feel sick thinking about the people who do this kind of shit....all i can think is WHY??!!

the key thing is though for people to not live in fear and continue to go and enjoy all the amazing things it has to offer... this goes for all the places in the world that may be unstable at the moment... we are all going to die one day... dont let the the terror and fear paralyze you.. thats what they want to do.....
