So anyways, I've done some more reading and from what I can gather, it is perception that yoga cannot stand alone from Hinduism as a physical exercise that seems to be what most anti-yoga Christians have issues with. They believe that once you practice, you acknowledge that Braham (God) is all and all is Braham and, by saying that, you are deifying yourself.

Also, looking inward for stability and comfort means that you aren't looking to God.

I suppose that's an understandable viewpoint, although I still think they're missing out.

Sorry for stepping late into this thread because what i have to say will give a good theologic background to help your friend understand a bigger picture.

Having an understanding of gnostic traditions would help explain chrisitanity on a more broad and metaphysical level. The problem with your friend is ignorance, and the organized indoctronated version of christianity, that doesn't want people to know that all religons carry similar roots.
