Ever done it? Found out any cool shit or what?

My mother is all gung-ho on family history. She's always tracing roots and doing research since our family is so massive and doesn't pass knowledge of our history down the line with each generation.

Anyways, she found out earlier this year that we're of Polish descent on top of our Scottish, French, and Cree backgrounds.

My family tree is pretty branched with a few remairrages so it's kind of difficult.

But I'm slowly building up some info. Got a relative in Manitoba that's doing a lot of research on one side. She sends me stuff once in awhile.

i have an uncle who has spent the last few decades following our name. he claims to be able to trace our lineage to relations of Mary Magdalene, or however you spell it.
whether he is right about that or not he has 'proof' going back hundreds of years.

I guess its pretty complex, all information about my families lineages has been passed down on both sides. My European lineage can be traced back to the golden age of the Moors. A time when the Moors colonized Spain in the 16th century.

I also have a mesoamerican heritage which is traced to a people called the Pipil which are technically Mayan through their culture, language and beliefs.

you don't have any now (i would assume), so don't worry about it.

My aunt traced our history back a bit. We were the first Chinese convince store owners in Vancouver.

Next time you're at the store pay $1.16 for a can of coke, you know who to thank.

^ so cool! Do you know if the building of the store is still standing today?

My family apparently owned a lot of stores in what is now Manhattan and one of my ancestors wast the first surgeon in NY!

my cousin and I started tracing back our family history and we have been able to obtain a copy of the documentation right down to the ship number and the passenger number of our ancestors. This is dating back to to mid to late 1600's. I plan on researching some more data. However trying to get information from france will be rather interesting..
