What does this even mean?

It was to point out the ridiculous comment that "Now, the other half, including myself see this as an aggressive way of making the population suffer," basically makes you think world leaders are trying to make the population suffer for the sake of making people suffer. Do you really think that world leaders sit around at night thinking to themselves "How can I make people suffer, mwha ha ha!". Yes, bears can swim. But the argument is about their natural habitat, ice caps disappearing and killing the population. When Al Gore says, "Bear's can't swim" he means, they can't live in the sea as a replacement for their natural habitat. I really didn't think anyone took it literally.

The vast majority of scientists have supported global warming as valid, while the other side has very little support outside of politicians, and large business owners.

The argument of big money, is silly since the deniers have more money to gain from not having to implement this. And scientists aren't exactly rolling around in BMW's, so I don't know where the big money argument for them is...

Lets say somehow, it's 50/50 for both sides (That's giving a lot more support to the deniers then the currently have). Is it really worth having the right to pump gases at dizzying rates into the atmosphere? What's so horrible about trying to cut that back?

Nothing's been done to hurt businesses so far....

I love it, because scientific opinions may differ on global warming some people get right uppity when the global community is suggesting we find a more sustainable way to live our lives. Basically with a lot of Canadians I think this traces back to our most recent election campaign when the Conservatives were suggesting that doing good for the environment meant more/extra taxes for Canadians. (speaking of people who have been brainwashed by the media)

Whether you choose to believe scientific facts or choke on Stephen Harper's cock, I think that everyone would agree that there is something terribly wrong when a small population is using the vast majority of the world's NON RENEWABLE resources and anyone who doesn't think that should change is a complete idiot and doesn't have a world view beyond their mom's basement.

I think the stupidity of this whole thing can be summed up by the fact that I'm actually praying the idiots are right about climate change, because if they're not we're royally fucked.

Climate destabilization is not a myth and nobody is arguing that it is, except for those that are completely devoid of scientific data.

The data shows that climate change is a very real thing. What is under debate is whether or not this is a natural process or whether human contribution is a major cause to it.

At this point though, regardless of whether or not it's our fault, it would still be a smart move to minimize our impact so that we don't exacerbate the problem, and if it is at all possible for us to curb it, it's very likely that it is in our best interest as a human population to try and do so. Even if the planet is going to be fine and we're just fucking ourselves over, I don't think that the mass extermination of the human race is an outcome that anybody here wants, regardless of whether or not it's our fault.
