sleepless nights

back then i had pc on 24/7 and i was used to hearing fan buzzing while sleeping. recently i've been sleeping with pc off and any sudden noise will wake me up. NOW with the rain pouring i hardly get good night sleep. As for earplugs, been there done that and quite uncomfortable to sleep with

i actually sleep with a fan on....i don't even point it at me...i just like the humming noise it makes, it overpowers any other noise that would wake me up (the walls in my house are thin and I can hear people upstairs, or people outside, or phones ringing etc. if I don't have it on). I would recommend it

I'm still stuck w/ the statement that rain is keeping you awake.

That has to be one of the most soothing sounds to put me to sleep, ever!

To snuggle into your pillow, pulling your blanket over your head, just leaving your nose exposed for breathing....

And, hearing the rain splatting on your roof/window, and just knowing, it's not falling on your face...

Yah definitely something wrong with you if rain is keeping you up. You're awake for a reason, you just need to figure it out or have a scotch.

I hear ya. I frequently get them due to an irregular and unpredictable work schedule. Some days I wake up at noon but have to sleep by 8/9pm to be up by 3 am the next day and that is practically impossible.

Lights out, less coffee, more exercise, lots of wind-down time, boring books!

Lately I've been watching Carl Sagan's Cosmos to sleep. It's been working like a charm.

Not that it's a boring show - it's actually quite captivating. Sagan's voice is just so oddly soothing.
