Q's who has their car/vehicle modified? Eg. Lowered..Mods to muffler?

I fucking got a $86 fine last night in Rmd...Fuckin fruity Popo pulled me over cause of my muffler/exhaust...I fucking can't believe it...

So, who has their car modified and if you've ever been fined?

i don't see what's so unbelieveable about being pulled over for that. it's been known for a while that the richmond police WILL do that.

i commend the "fruity popo" pulling your fruity car over and giving you a ticket for your fruity exhaust. if i was that cop i would've slapped you with a VI.

Well when they had all those accidents and stuff I heard about that...Any car in Rmd with mod will get fined and shit...But common now...90% of the cars in Rmd are modified! FUCK sake just go to ParkerPlace or something and bust every car there! Shiiiit...

Just because 90% of the cars there have m ods, doesn't mean the police are gonna stop pulling them over. it's like "oh.. everyones doing it i guess it's okie". that doesn't work!

As well, if 90% there do have illegal mods, well then it just means more money for them..

The whole point of pulling the people over and fining them is to discourage car modifications because the majority of people who do these car mods think they're hardcore and can race.. and they do stupid shit.. and it'susually the innocent people who get killed in the end.

there are rules about how modified ure car is.. i dont know where the rules are.. but obviously ure allowed to do SOME stuff to your car, but u can't break the rules and u'll get a fruity fine. richmond is gay.. always been gay and always will be gay. i personally think it minimized the number of street racing in richmond.. richmond is simply heaty now. i think mod cars are a lil too "fruity" for me neways.. buy a prelude and LEAVE IT ALONE.

oh btw umm
did the cop actually put a decibel-meter to your exhaust?
if he didn't you just won. theres NO WAY that you can be able to tell if something is over 96db

when my buddy was in court for a ticket some guy won a dispute for the stupidest reason...when the judge asked him about the ticket hes just said "oh i was just hopeing the cop wouldn't show up" and he laughed adn dismissed the ticket

My boyfriend got a ticket last year for tint on his front windows (not the windshield, but the passener and driver side windows)

The cops took a sample......he was more pissed off that there is a big half-circle cut out of his tint than he was about the ticket.

but i can sympathize with you, the problem is alot of the cops don't really know the MVA code that well and interpert it incorrectly. so alot of em just indiscriminately ticket, and its up to you to prove that your car is legally modified, and for you're information it probably isn't because theres more regulations on exhausts then just sound levels. theres alot of confusing shit regarding the size of the holes going into and out of your exhuast. So if you have one of those stupid fart tips soderd onto your stock muffler i can tell you right now its illegal.

Dude, I've gotta say, that if the mod is for making it louder then I agree with the fine...I'm not big on peeps driving their car all over the place with supa-loud (and annoying) engine roars. I hear tons of idiots doing this downtown when they come from other areas. If U wanna do stuff like that then lemme run a lawnmower near your head while U try and sleep and see if U like that loud annoying roar (<--not a personal attack on U Peter, just my overall opinion of louder than needed cars). If its for racing then I think the point has already been made here to simply not do it on the street, pay for a proper track (as well as proper safety equip. so no one, yourself included, gets hurt).

he's legally within his right to make his car louder up to 96db
so peter, if the cop dind't actually put a device 3 ft from your exhaust pipe at a 45 degree angle, he didn't prove beyond a doubt your exhaust is over 96db

Konrad...point well taken on the up to 96db part...he is well within his rights on that...even if I (or others) find it annoying.

BUT...if its over that level then it is illegal, and I'm well within my rights to bitch about it, regardless of whether it can be proven in a court of law. Also, the burden of proof isn't as demanding for something like this than it would be for a criminal code offence - often other factors, such as what the officer did or did not hear, overall traffic volume level, personal experiance on the part of the officer in question, etc, may factor in, even without a 'registered' sound check.

theres no personal experience about it
you cant judge db by ear period. He had to meter it for it to be legal. My car idle's at 91db. i checked. if the cop didn't meter peters exhaust, then if he wants im sure he coudl find soemone with a mic and db-meter to check it to prove his innocence, even though i dont feel he should need to seeing as its the cop proving his guilt not the other way around

it is with car fines man...try it, you have to go to court and prove that you're exhasut is legal, alot of people don't know just how fucked up things can get, when i6t comes to fines, and VI's.
