I just turned 18, my parents are willing to support me for the while that I go to school, so long as I go to school.. so here I am up at sfu.

They don't agree with everything that I do/intend to do, but they're overall supportive.. and can afford to have me at home etc. I think it depends on your situation as well as your parents, and how much they can provide/are willing to provide... I mean, if the oppurtunity is there, why not take it? In the meantime I'm going to make the best of what they're willing to provide me with, for as long as they let me...

My sister's 21 and she still technically lives at home, my parents pay for her res fees, tuition, etc... but she's doing a lot in Commerce up at UBC and probably wouldn't be able to do what she does or be able to dedicate herself as much if it weren't for my parents financial support...

so I'm prob going to try to find something I like and work hard toward "building a future" get the education I need rarara and then step out of the door.

I'm 19 and have lived on my own since the summer.
I could have stayed at my parents house as long as I wanted, but chose to move out just cuz I want to be independant.

I wish I could still get free food and rent at home but alas I live on my own... I think living with your family is good as long as it works for all involved. Western culture is actually fairly abnormal in that families don't generaly live together once the kids grow up. In a lot of other places around the world families live together with as many as 3 or 4 generations all in the same house.

So I am actually just traditional in a cultural sense? Has a better ring to it then 'lazy free loader', doesn't it?

i miss living at home...i miss the suburbs and the trees...and west van in general. but living on our own has its perks too.

if i had enough money, i'd move out when i got back to Van. but i dunnnnnnno...free food, free rent sounds good but then i'd have to actually see and talk to my parents everyday....*shudder*

I still live at home, i really dont want to just beacuse i'm living in little tiny campbell river and i have been here my whole life. I think its time for a change, but mya parents wont let me move out till i have finished school and/or am 18. I will be 18 in a year but will hopefully grad a year early and be done school by this summer (home schooling kicks ass)

I wish my parents would move towns because then i would still live with them, but i cant stand to be here any longer then i have to!

i moved out when i was 18. but i think the age you move out relies heavily on post secondary choices. i have always had a super relationship with my parents, i just felt like it was time, because i was making good money and the commute was killing me.

I've been on my own since I was 18, 'tho in my case I left home to go away to university in another city...tho I was also happy to be on my own and, in fact, being on my own was part of the motivation to go away to school.

how do ppl move out when they're 16/17?! must be really tough, but looks like everything worked out well cuz looks like you guys can afford the internet right now.

if i moved out right now.. all the money would be goin to rent.. food would be bread and apples. no tv and definatly no internet nor phone.
