if her blood sugur/ blood pressure was normal she would have just got a bit dizzy and not totally blacked out... unless you like held your breathe and stood up as fast as you could to make yourself pass out, which i doubt you did... and if you did oh well you still grow brain cells till your 21 :)

Sometimes when you stand up suddenly gravity pulls the blood away from your head.
If you have low blood pressure, it literally pulls the blood from your brain and you get what is known as blackout. The opposite is if the blood rushes to your head (normally only experienced by those who fly fighter jets) which is called white-out. Normally, you only get momentarily dizzy when you stand up. If you got that and you werent on a number of drugs that play with your blood pressure (E, alchohol, marijuana or a number of other drugs) and this happened you should visit your doctor (GP, NOT the hospital) and discuss it with them. The doctor will do a number of tests on you including a Lipids test to make sure everything is all right. Better safe than sorry. Hope this helps. Cheerio |

The reason you probably blacked out was because your blood sugar was low..... did you eat anything before? if so how long before?
I have had this happen to me a few times and it's only ever happened when I had an empty stomach... otherwise it would've just been a read rush |

^^ i've had those. your limbs get shakey and you just can't stand. and then you black out and just fall.
i've got them alot, usually worse in the morning, like if i get out of bed really fast. One time I did that, fell face forward and hit my face on my dresser, that hurt =( As long as you're not getting ones that bad all the time, it's not a big deal. |

i'm hypoglycemic and similar things happen to me when i have low blood sugar.
It doesn't matter if that's what you always do - your body was giving you a quick reminder to eat and drink so that it can function. You can live your daily life a certain way for a long time, but your body's needs change and maybe your usual day isn't meeting those current needs. eat to live! gotta have a little suga |

Norepinephrine is a hormone that is responsible for blood vessel response in tissues adjacent to blood vessels.
In most people, the body compensates for a drop in blood pressure by releasing norepinephrine which triggers vasoconstriction (aka blood vessel narrowing). Vasocontriction revs up the pressure in the vessels and maintains adequate blood pressure. When a person stands up and the vessels don't constrict, blood pressure drops and the brain temporarily doesn't receive enough oxygen. This can cause dizziness and fainting. A medical technique called microdialysis uses tiny probes to measure fluid composition in interstitial tissue (aka the spaces outside of your cells) and the changes in that fluid when exposes to certain factors. You should definetly talk to your doctor about this. Hope this helps! miou, ChatNoir |
